Stage 16 – Easy 165 km, relaxed feelings

Today we came from the dry mountains terrains of Provence to more green terrain of Alpes. This borderline could be really sharp at Col de Izoard, which southern part is dry and northern part is green. Now we came from the Col du Macueg, where the line is more unobtrusive.

There was Tchez reporter with us on bike and 50 km before the finish Vincent from Holland and our mechanician Ladja joined us. Ladja pedaled hard sprints on bike and shot videos.

At Col du Manse we did qualification for the start place of Alpe d’Huez. Jan, Michal, Rene, Alpo, Jarda, Vaclav. It was fun to kick hard after long time.

On the downhill of the Manse at the Beloki corner, we tried the same shortcut as Armstrong did when Beloki crashed. You can find many videos of Armstrong and soon you can compare how we survived. I think we were much slower.

Tomorrow is time trial at 10 o’clock with Zimovcak.

Etappi 16 – Mukava 165 km rennosti

Tänään mukava 165 km rennoissa tunnelmissa. Tultiin Provencen kuivilta vuorilta Alppien vihreämmille vuorille. Tämä raja olisi erityisen jyrkkä Col de Izoardilla, jonka eteläpuoli on kuiva ja pohjoispuoli vihreä. Nyt tultiin Col du Macuegnen kautta jolloin siirtymä on huomaamattomampi.

Mukana oli tsekkitoimittaja fillarilla ja 50 km ennen maalia joukkoon liittyivät Vincent Hollannista sekä mekaanikkomme Ladja, joka polki fillarilla hurjia spurtteja ja hoiti videokuvausta.

Innostuttiin Col du Mansella hakemaan lähtöruutuja Alpe d’Huezille. Jan, Michal, Rene, Alpo, Jarda, Vaclav. Hauskaa vetää välillä kovaakin.

Mansen alamaessa otettiin tietenkin Armstrong-oikoreitti Belokin mutkassa. Youtubesta löytyy paljon videoita Armstrongin ajosta ja kohta niitä voi verrata meidän edesottamuksiin. Taidettiin olla aikalailla hitaampia.

Huomenna aika-ajo klo 10 yhdessä Zimovcakin kanssa.
